With a new school year coming on fast, you are probably thinking about things like tuition and school supplies. But it’s also a good idea to think about your family’s teeth. It’s a good time to consider some services that will help your kids start the new term off right.

Need to make appointments for your loved ones? Call Bickler Dentistry today at 503-647-4645 to visit us in Salem, OR. In the meantime, see if any of our checklist items apply to your family:

  • Check Your Teen’s Wisdom Teeth – These third molars typically come in during the late teen years. They can sometimes be painful and cause dental problems like crowding. Bring your teen in so we can see what is going on in their mouth – especially if they have noticed discomfort, a lingering unpleasant taste, chronic bad breath, or swollen gums. If the teeth need to be removed, it’s a good idea to get the extraction out of the way before school starts. This allows them plenty of time to recover without missing class.
  • Avoid Late Summer Rush for Exams – Schedule your family’s exams and cleanings now. As school gets closer, our schedule tends to fill. Remember, our office opens at 7 a.m. on Thursdays.
  • Get Mouthguards for Your Athletes – If any of your kids are involved in sports, get them fitted for custom mouthguards. They provide better protection than store-bought guards and also typically last longer. With a custom fit, your child will be less likely to leave their mouthguard on the sidelines instead of wearing it.
  • Consider Preventive Care – To protect your child against cavities, ask our team about fluoride treatments and/or dental sealants. Insurance typically pays for these preventive services. They are quick and easy. And they are effective. CDC research shows that school-age children who don’t get sealants have three times more cavities than children with sealants.
  • Beautify Teeth Before Classes Start – A new school year means meeting new people and pursuing new activities. Your kids will feel more confident if they know their smiles look great. You may want to consider professional whitening, dental bonding, or even veneers. Our dentist can help you identify the cosmetic services that will work best for them.

You want to take great care of your family’s teeth – and we do too. Call Bickler Dentistry today at 503-647-4645 to schedule appointments.
